Profile:
In August of 2009 The Mustard Seed of Central Florida named Michelle Lyles as its new Executive Director. The Mustard Seed is the only free furniture bank in Central Florida, providing basic household items, clothing, and related fundamentals to give disadvantaged populations or disaster victims the basics to create meaningful futures for themselves and their families while being environmentally responsible to our community. Recently the organization introduced a mattress recycling program to create self-sustaining revenue, keep bad mattresses out of the landfill, while finding newer bedding for families in need.
Prior to joining The Mustard Seed, Lyles was fundraising for other philanthropic organizations: she was the Director of Annual Giving at The Florida Bar Foundation and the Director of Leadership Giving at Heart of Florida United Way. Raised in Orlando, Lyles has been in several print campaigns and commercials for Disney Destinations, Universal Studios, and several national spots and many local companies. She is past President of The New Smyrna Beach Business and Professional Women, and past Young Careerist of Florida BPW. She is a Fellow of The Florida Bar Foundation, and a volunteer speaker for The BETA Center. She lives in Central Florida with her three boys: Christian, 21; CJ, 17; and Corbin, 15. Her hobbies include golf, surfing, snowboarding, cycling, travel, and photography- last month she completed her first triathlon in 1 hour 41 minutes and will be participating in her first marathon relay in February.
